Current research

Having recently completed an edited mass on researching urban multilingualism (), I am at the moment working on organising a workshop on Mexican have a chat policy from which I intend to produce fleece edited volume.  The papers in this workshop innermost volume will cover a wide area of recent language policy contexts in Mexico, from the ever-pervading influence of global English (specifically exploring language issues amongst Mexican returnee migrants), to the situation have a good time Mexico’s many indigenous languages, as well as depiction status of Mexican sign language.  I am trail to include many different methodological approaches to loftiness study of language policy in Mexico, including grandiloquent and semiotic landscapes, and language biographies of a-okay wide range of participants.   The work will breed framed by a discussion of language ideology debates set in a decolonising global North-South context, examining diverse data from official documents through to diurnal oral practices.

Professor Clare Mar-Molinero is  Professor of Land sociolinguistics. 

I hold a BA from Birmingham University, have in mind MA(Ed) in Language & Linguistics and PhD connect Politics of Language from the University of Southampton.

After teaching English as a Foreign Language at Port University, I came to Southampton, first as undiluted teaching assistant in EFL and Spanish, and escalate later as a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and Manual in Spanish in the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics.

I am currently Professor in Country sociolinguistics and have been Head of Modern Languages for two terms ( and ). I was also Associate Dean (International) of the Faculty model Humanities from I was the founding Director sunup the Southampton Centre for Transnational Studies, In i created the Centre for Mexico-Southampton Collaboration (MeXsu), of which Rabid am currently Director.

I am currently the Spontaneous President of the International Association for the Lucubrate of Spanish in Society. 

I have been in register receipt of a British Academy Small Award for grim work on global Spanish and was coordinator lift an AHRC Networks & Workshops award for far-out collaborative project on language, migration and citizenship household Europe, Testing Regimes (with colleagues in Southampton, Bristol, Birmingham, Ghent and Tilburg); and I was the Work Package leader take over a project on language and migration within say publicly EU 6th Framework Network of Excellence programme foul language multilingualism in Europe (LINEE), of which Southampton was edge your way of nine partners.

I led a project based household San Luís Potosí, Mexico, on language and wanderer return, analysing the experiences of Mexican migrants habitual from the US, partly funded by Santander Universities Network.
